We started raising goats in 2011. We purchased two goats, Stella and Maddie, in the month of April for one of our daughters to show in a 4H competition in October. The following year our daughter entered high school and became involved with sports and was soon too busy to continue with goats.
It was at that point my goat obsession took over. Honestly, I was hooked on raising goats from the moment we brought Stella home at the ripe old age of two weeks. We purchased Maddie a couple of weeks later because you can't have just one goat.
Really, you CAN'T just have one goat. They are herd animals and need other goats to thrive. In short, “goats are kinda like potato chips. You can't have just one or two."
Over the last decade, we have learned a lot about what it takes to care for and raise healthy, happy goats.
We’ve been blessed to have had, and continue to have, two key mentors who instilled upon us the knowledge on how to raise goats in a healthy way. They have been instrumental in the educating us on how to properly care for and raise goats.
We are extremely grateful for all the knowledge we have been able to garner from Julie Carreiro (JC Boer Goats) and Beth Mabie (Mabie's Farm). We are so grateful for their support and owe a great deal of our success to their guidance.
